Leslie Morgan Steiner was in an abusive relationship, though at first she didn’t realize it. In a talk at TEDxRainier, she tells the disturbing story of her relationship, correcting misconceptions many people hold about victims of domestic violence, and explaining how we can all help break the silence.
If you or someone you know is facing domestic violence or an absuive relationship, you can find a list of resources here. The U.S. National Sexual Assault Hotline is 1-800-656-4673 (HOPE), and RAINN offers a secure online hotline.
Abuse only thrives in silence
Emotional Abuse too.
There’s no reason for someone to constantly put you down or berate you.
It’s just like getting your head slammed into a wall repeatedly every night for no reason.
And the worst part is that unlike physical markings, emotional bruises are far easier to cover up.
This guy stopped watching porn — and he wants you to know why. Gender activist Ran Gavrieli felt that most of the images he saw in porn encouraged negative, even violent, attitudes toward women, despite a recent wave of feminist porn. So he pulled the plug, and found that his personal sex life and private fantasies became much more fulfilling.
In his talk at TEDxJaffa, he advocates for physically and emotionally-safe sex, as well as erotica that shows a wider range of fulfilling sexual experiences — including the intimacy of human connection, laughter, and touch. Watch his talk here.
I HAVE SAID THIS FOR SOO LONG! *giant applause*
FINALLY OMG SOMEONE SAYS IT
"Finally omg somebody said it" Oh yes. Multiple females have said it, nobody gives a shit. Some guy says it “OMG PORN IS BAD, I NEVER REALIZED IT!!!!¡¡¡¡”
Reblogging because I love his point of view.
People (not only men…) just want to get off.
They don’t think about this, nor do they think anything of what they’re doing to contribute to the chain of supply and demand.
"You know how boys complain about being “friendzoned”? Well we experience this totally legit thing called being fuckzoned. It’s when boys want to have sex with you but they never seem all that interested in getting to know you"
