2013 XXL Freshman Class member, Logic, has released his latest mixtape titled Welcome to Forever.
Logic is a rapper who I first discovered about a year ago. Apparently, I was very late to his party because his YouTube views were already in the millions by the time I made it over there to watch his videos.
Now, we all know that the view count isn’t an indication of someone’s talent; but Logic’s case was different.
As I started listening to his music, I realized that people were interested in those videos because the records were good. There was no denying it.
Also, what impressed me most about Logic is that he is a new-school rapper with an old-school flow. He has a crazy type of delivery that allows him to effortlessly spit over the types of beats that have me nostalgic for the days when Hip-Hop’s focus wasn’t on money and “Molly”. We need more of that,
So, if what I’ve just described happens to be the kind of Hip-Hop you are searching for, I suggest you give Welcome to Forever a listen.
The material may be a little run-of-the-mill in terms of rappers describing how they used to struggle and now they’ve “made it”, but Logic’s energetic and fresh style will make you feel like you’re hearing it all for the first time.
Philly: Check out Logic when his Welcome to Forever tour stops at the TLA on 6/24.
